Vriksha Parichaya Kshetram (VPK) is an engaging eco-tourism and conservation initiative by the Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) in Hyderabad. It is a significant attraction located within the Botanical Garden in Kondapur near Sarath City Mall.

A Thematic Introduction to Nature

Vriksha Parichaya Kshetram, which translates to “Tree Identification Zone,” is more than just a collection of trees. It is a meticulously designed space that offers a thematic introduction to plant diversity, connecting culture with nature. It is often a key feature in eco-adventures and nature camps organized by TGFDC under its “Deccan Woods & Trails” initiative.

Biodiversity and Conservation

Spanning an impressive 94 acres, the Kshetram is a haven for plant life, boasting 1869 plant varieties across 50 forest-themed parks, 7 distinct ecosystems, 18 forest types, and 2 evolution-based concept gardens. A few examples include Pencil & Eraser Garden, Rainbow Garden, Butterfly Garden, Vinayaka Vanam, Surname Garden,  Sports Garden, Dwajasthambam Vanam, etc., This vast collection highlights its role in promoting biodiversity conservation and serves as an educational hub for visitors. The themes are carefully curated to showcase plants with cultural significance, making the experience both educational and spiritually enriching.

An Immersive Experience

Visitors to Vriksha Parichaya Kshetram can enjoy a variety of activities. It is a popular spot for bird watchers, with organized bird walks where experts guide participants in identifying various species and their habitats. The tranquil environment and lush greenery make it an ideal place for nature enthusiasts to connect with the wild, even within a city setting. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the crucial role of nature in the ecosystem and the importance of conservation.

A Community and Educational Hub

The Kshetram serves as a vital community space for events like bird walks and educational programs. It provides a “Birds Pocket Guide” to help enthusiasts identify the birds they spot. This not only enhances the visitor experience but also empowers people to become more knowledgeable about their local environment. By bringing people closer to nature, Vriksha Parichaya Kshetram plays a critical role in fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for the natural world.
